1. New AAC Documentary ‘This Is Not About Me’ Released

From David Niemeijer, AssistiveWare:

We are very excited to report that the ‘This is not about me’ documentary is now available for rental for £7.99.
This ground-breaking 1-hour documentary gives you an idea of what it is like to grow up autistic and nonspeaking.
The film follows Jordyn Zimmerman’s story and shows the difference AAC can make.

All proceeds for the documentary will go to non-profit advocacy organisations.

3. AAC Awareness Month

International AAC Awareness Month is celebrated around the world each October. The goal is to raise awareness of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and to inform the public about the many different ways in which people communicate using communication devices.

International AAC Awareness Month was established by ISAAC’s LEAD Project Committee in October 2007. Thirteen countries participated in the first Awareness Month, and events have been increasing in number and scope ever since.

Take a look at what is happening around the world on ISAAC’s website here: https://isaac-online.org/english/aac-awareness/international-aac-awareness-month/ and check out the hashtag #AACaware21 on Twitter and Facebook!
