2. New Udemy Training on Visual Scene Displays

There is a new (free) Udemy training course available that covers the basics of visual scene displays (VSDs), the key components of creating and using VSDs, and features Scene & Heard Pro with examples of how you can use the App.

3. The 2024 Medilink North of England Healthcare Business Awards to Support CM

The Medilink Healthcare Business Awards is a calendar highlight and has seen some of the industry’s highly commendable innovations and successes receive the recognition they deserve over the years.
The showcase event offers a chance to demonstrate the North’s strong capabilities, innovation and commercial successes and highlight the expertise in our region.
Entries are open from now until Friday 22nd December and the shortlist will be announced the week commencing 22nd January 2024.
The black tie gala evening will then be held on Thursday 21st March 2024 at St.Pauls Mercure Hotel in Sheffield.
We are incredibly proud to be supporting our charity partner for 2024, Communication Matters. CM Trustee Beth Moulam and Chair Helen Whittle have been invited to give a presentation at the Awards Ceremony. Funds raised on the night from a silent auction and luxury raffle will be donated to CM.

4. CALL Scotland Launch Webinar Series for 2024
From CALL Scotland:
CALL Scotland provide a programme of 20 minute webinars as free Professional Learning opportunities, and the 2024 series is now available to book. These webinars are on a range of Assistive Technology topics all with the focus on supporting children and young people with Additional Support Needs.
Our webinars are very popular for participants and presenters alike and we have no difficulty finding people who want to showcase their product or share their practice with a wider audience. Our January – June 2024 schedule filled up very quickly and we have an overflow of interested parties now hoping for a slot in the latter half of the year. The format will remain the same for 2024:
- High quality Professional Learning offered at no cost
- Focus on Assistive Technologies to support learners with ASN

5. My Favourite Voucher Codes Poll – WE WON!
STOP PRESS! Every month, My Favourite Voucher Codes donates 20% of their profits to charity. They run a monthly poll where 4 charities are in with the chance of winning the donation, and Communication Matters was chosen as a nominated charity in the November Poll.
We have just heard that, thanks to everyone who voted, WE WON! We should hear in March 2024 how much was donated, but in the meantime, a massive ‘thank you’ to every single person who voted for CM.
Thank you to My Favourite Voucher Codes and to all our amazing supporters who have helped secure this valuable funding, enabling us to continue supporting those who have communication difficulties and give everyone a voice.
6. CM Christmas Cards for Sale
We are delighted that our Communication Matters Christmas Cards are now on sale! You can buy them online in packs of 10 for £5.00 and they will be posted out to you.
They have a lovely design again this year with ‘Four symbols of Christmas’. Our heartfelt thanks to The Makaton Charity for their symbols and to City University London’s Student SLT Society for the design inspiration! Along with Print&Mail at the University of Leeds for printing/distributing for us.
