Summary

The key aims of the paper are to:

1. 1. Encourage, persuade and motivate parents, carers, teachers and anyone who comes into contact with young people with disabilities, not to over protect them in their childhood; not to wrap them up in cotton wool!
   2. Motivate young people with disabilities to get up and go, to live a full life, no matter how severe their disabilities.

I will share a number of pivotal events that have shaped my life. And explore how they came about and influenced me.
