  • Claire Evans (University of Leeds)
  • Catherine Harris (Communication Matters)

Summary

Note: Numbers are limited, so please can you sign up on the Communication Matters stand in the Exhibition Hall by 6pm on Monday 15th September.

Following the success of last years ‘Creative Communication in Art’ workshop, we are pleased to be able to offer this session again. Leeds University has a dynamic relationship with the Arts and has the enviable facility of an Art Gallery on site which is open to the public. The workshop will be facilitated by Claire Evans, Education officer for the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery.

This session will aim to explore ‘Creative Communication’ through an interactive workshop including the development of Art through alternative access. Smartbox have kindly agreed to provide the equipment and support the participants with eye gaze access. Work which is produced in the workshop may then be put on show as part of the gallery exhibition.

This session is suitable for people who use AAC and any others who would like to participate.

Last year, Communication Matters donated a trophy for Creativity in memory of Alan Martin. It was awarded to Barry Smith for his poetry. This year it will be awarded for the most inspiring piece created within the interactive workshop programme and will be presented at the closing session of Conference.
