Spreading the Word(s)

Personal experience
  • Julie Atkinson
  • Axel Böhm

This session will discuss how Axel, who uses a Vanguard II communication aid via a HeadMouse, has worked with ACT over the last 12 years to provide training sessions to a number of different groups.

Julie will provide feedback about the contribution which having an augmented communicator actively participating in training sessions brings to these sessions. Axel will present some of the lectures he has written, describing his unique personal experiences of being an augmented communicator — the good, the bad, and the downright dangerous!

Axel is keen to offer support to other people who use AAC, so we hope to stimulate a discussion about how he (and others) might be able to work with, provide support, or act as role model to people who use AAC, their families and carers.
