Through our narratives we share our experiences and build relationships. Narratives play a key role in developing our social identity. However, for adults who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication, sharing narrative is difficult if not impossible.

This new project will take existing technology from previous projects such as 'How Was School Today…?' to develop a system which will allow adults who use AAC to share their life experiences through interactive conversation.

To better understand the requirements for the system, a two month study was conducted in a care centre into how adults who use AAC currently share narratives. This study used observation, staged conversations and participants' own video diaries to gather a corpus of data on narrative use in AAC.
