Communication Matters is a charitable organisation which covers the whole of the UK. The organisation is managed by a Board of Trustees elected by its Associate members. The Trustees volunteer their time and expertise to run the organisation. Read more about the Trustees and staff.

Communication Matters values people who use any form of communication and promotes the individual’s right to participate in all aspects of life by using their most appropriate means of communication to express their thoughts, feelings, needs and desires.
Communication Matters is the UK Chapter of the International Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ISAAC). There are 14 national chapters of ISAAC, co-ordinated by a Secretariat based in Canada. Communication Matters is one of its most active chapters.
Communication Matters is a core member of the Communication Consortium which is the advisory body of The Communication Trust.
In 2017 we joined as members of National Voices which is a coalition of health & social care charities in England.
In 2018, we joined as member of Leeds CANN (Leeds Children’s Additional Needs Network) which is formed of third sector organisations working with families/carers with children and young people with additional needs, in the Leeds area. The network share best practice, resources, ideas and opportunities, in order to improve access to information, training and support.
