‘Our Futures’ Workshop Needs You!
Trustees Beth Moulam and Helen Hewson are hosting the ‘Our Futures’ workshop at CM2023 – the first time AAC users have created and led a workshop at Conference. This is a great opportunity to have your say, as Beth explains:
Communication Matters is committed to supporting all AAC users, so we want to hear your views about what you want for your futures.
We know from our own experiences that once we leave education it can be challenging to access further training, and this is where we want your ideas and suggestions about what you might want looking forward. We want to represent your views to the Board and to do this we need to know what you think and feel about your futures. But to do that we need you to help us to find ways to develop the services and opportunities that you want.
In the first session we will be asking 3 big questions:
- What education and training might help you in the short term? By this we mean the next year or two. So, thinking about your life now and what would be helpful to get involved with, what might you like to do?
- What other types of training might be helpful for the future? Please think about your longer-term future and what training, workshops or activities might you benefit from?
- If Communication Matters can get funding, how would you like any education, training or activities delivered? This could be distance learning or in person. Day workshops or residential courses or something else.
So if you would like to take greater control over your destiny, we would like to help. There are no right or wrong answers, this is your opportunity to tell us what you would like.
Please come prepared to tell us what is important to you. We hope to see you in Michael Sadler LG10 on Monday 11thSeptember at 4.25pm for Part 1 (tea and coffee served here from 3.45pm) and Stage@Leeds, Stage 1 on Tuesday 12th September at 11.20am (tea and coffee served here from 10.40am) for Part 2.
