Exhibition Submissions Wanted – More Than Just Talking
As part of the Leeds Year of Culture 2023, this Communication Matters exhibition will showcase Photography and a variety of Artwork focusing on the theme: More than Just Talking.
Communication is more than just talking. Why is the initial response always verbal? More than just talking – meaning, intentions, actions. How something is interpreted, body language, eye contact. Saying something without even speaking at all. When someone tells you to ‘read the room’, what do you do? Pick up on someone’s emotional state, demeanour, their mannerisms. More than just talking can be a gesture, of love, of hate, of confusion, talking through your hands, your eyes. Sign Language. Communicating, understanding, reacting to a situation. More than just talking could be doing something about it – protests, activism, petitions, putting laws into place that change behaviour. Changing behaviour for the better, working on yourself and recognising past mistakes, moving on. Promises that have physical responses with them.
Submissions are now open for a Photography, Poetry and Art Exhibition happening at the University of Leeds from 26th April to 5th May in collaboration with Communication Matters. More information about Communication Matters can be found here.

Have your Portrait Taken at the AAC Awards 2023
At the AAC Awards there will be the opportunity for you to have a professional portrait taken.
These portraits will be exhibited at the Leeds Year of Culture ‘More Than Just Talking’ Exhibition at the University of Leeds from 26th April to 5th May.

More Than Just Talking Exhibition – Open Invitation
As part of the Leeds Year of Culture 2023, a Photography, Poetry and Art Exhibition will be held at the University of Leeds from 26th April – 5th May, in collaboration with Communication Matters.
A diverse range of painters, poets and photographers, including artists using assistive technology, have responded to the theme ‘More than Just Talking’. The event will showcase their work at the university’s Parkinson Court.
