The time has come again to request nominations for Trustees to serve a term in the life of Communication Matters. The role of a Trustee demands stamina, commitment and a good skill mix, but it’s also stimulating, enlightening and very rewarding!
This year there will be four vacant places to be filled and the opportunity of appointing a further three Co-opted Trustees as appropriate. The announcement of Trustees will take place at the Annual Meeting on Sunday 8 September 2019 at the University of Leeds, during the Communication Matters International AAC Conference.
Trustees have a very important role in Communications Matters. They share the ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run on a day-to-day basis. Trustees’ activities include vetting and administering grant applications, and organising our annual International AAC Conference and Study Days.
The Board of Trustees appoints a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary, but every Trustee carries legal responsibility. We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, so Trustees must ensure we comply with current charity and company laws.
We are the UK chapter of an international organisation, ISAAC – so the Trustees must also meet ISAAC’s own aims and objectives.
This year, we have four vacancies to fill and the opportunity to co-opt a further three Trustees as appropriate.
We will announce the new Trustees at the Annual Meeting on Sunday 8 September 2019 at the University of Leeds, during the Communication Matters International AAC Conference.
