AAC Evidence Base Research Project: June 2011 Update

The project has been running for one year and is on target to achieve its milestone dates. The Research Manager is preparing the end of year report to the Big Lottery Fund.

The project was approved by an NHS ethics committee on 15 June. This is a key step forward in the process of enabling the researchers to contact NHS staff and patients and other organisations, and to access data held by the NHS.

Work to publicise the research is continuing. A number of organisations and professionals have distributed the project leaflet. There will be a poster presentation at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Research Institute for Health & Social Change annual conference on 1 July. If you would like to distribute the project leaflet please contact the Research Manager for copies.

Later this year the researchers will be looking for people from across the UK to participate in the research. If you are a person who uses AAC, a family member, carer or practitioner, please contact the Research Manager to register your interest.
