AAC Evidence Base Research Project: June 2012 Update

The journal Folia Phoniatrica et Logopaedica will publish a second article from the systematic literature review in its next edition. The article reports a review of 65 papers that describe interventions using high tech AAC and evaluate their effectiveness. ISAAC 2012 is a great opportunity to share our work with an international audience. Dr Janice Murray, Principal Investigator, Manchester Metropolitan University, and Simon Judge, Principal Investigator, Barnsley Hospital, will give a presentation about the project at the conference on 31st July.

The project team is looking forward to presenting the latest information about the research at the Communication Matters CM2012 National Conference in September. The University of Sheffield and Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will report on the emerging findings from their research into prevalence of need for AAC in the UK and models of AAC service provision in the UK. The audience will be invited to respond to the emerging findings, and contribute their views, and their experiences of AAC service delivery. Manchester Metropolitan University will showcase the AAC Evidence Base website which is being developed with the involvement of all AAC stakeholder groups.
