To show a new suite of 'AAC Awareness' materials that will be available to all on a 'free to download' basis, through the Scottish 'Right to Speak' project.
As part of the 'Right to Speak' initiative (2012-2015) in Scotland, NHS Education for Scotland commissioned development of materials "to promote universal support for people who use AAC". CALL has developed a suite of materials to introduce AAC at a very basic level to the general public. These materials will be launched in the course of 2013 and will be available to all, on a 'free to download' basis.
CALL has developed two short videos, an online course, some posters, and some communication resources. These will be previewed and discussed briefly in this session.
This set of materials will form the 'entry level' of further resources, to be developed over the next two years, aiming to promote knowledge of AAC at different levels, in line with the findings of parallel NHS Education for Scotland projects (such as the 'AAC Education and Development Framework') and will support training.
