To define our view of connectedness. To discuss the importance of connectedness at home, school, socially and in the wider community and why the lessons learned for typically developing young adults are just as crucial for those with communication impairments but need creative solutions to achieve.
These are the experiences of Beth and Emma in making and maintaining meaningful connections with others in a wide range of situations; from the expectations at school through to the success in sport and social situations.
Both Beth and Emma are excellent functional communicators using a wide range of aided and unaided, low- and high-tech communication strategies in varied and challenging situations. They hope their experience and practical strategies for developing connectedness will provide you with ideas and suggestions that might help those you work with.
