Summary

Access To Communication & Technology has noticed a marked increase in the number of referrals received to assess clients with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  This presentation will look at the factors that may influence the success of introducing Voice Output Communication Aids with clients who have a diagnosis of ASD.

Adult and paediatric case studies will be used to provide varied examples of the clients we work with and will highlight the factors that in each case have influenced the decision making process, implementation, and success of VOCAs.

Do the factors that influence the success of VOCAs in supporting the communication of clients with ASD differ from the factors that would influence the success of VOCAs within other client groups?
