Session

Educational

Summary

Literacy is a highly motivating way of facilitating and reinforcing communication, vocabulary development and language skills. People with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties can have access to literacy via the use of easy tech devices and working on skills such as intentional interaction, choosing, turn taking, timing, initiating, maintaining, closing, and questioning; commenting; vocabulary & language concepts.

Easy tech devices can be used, shared, and reprogrammed quickly and easily to maintain motivation and attention/concentration skills. Stories can also be written using such devices to elicit choices of vocabulary items to construct the story line. This in turn enhances the communication skills of the person learning the symbols. Stories can then be shared with peers in both special and mainstream schooling.
