Summary

This presentation will describe the Augmentative Communication Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital: our role with other London / South of England services, and our working to meet the standards of specialist AAC provision as outlined by Communication Matters. We will discuss our processes from referral to discharge, and our models of working. We will discuss in more detail various aspects of the service which may be less familiar, including the assessment of vision for communication, evaluated 3 month Loan Library trials and the development of outcome measures for children using AAC.

The session will be divided into two-thirds presentation and one-third discussion, during which we would be pleased to discuss the role of our service and any areas for suggested developments.
