Summary

The TRAINS network is an informal association of Aberdeen professionals with a common interest in ASD and training. Recognising gaps in the support, training and information available, we held an Open Day in May 2008 to contact families, carers and other professionals and find out what they wanted. This led to two strands of free training; a programme of topic based events, presented by a multi disciplinary team, and a rolling program of four practical workshops, provided through SLT. The practical workshops are extremely popular with families because they are small, informal, and designed so that participants leave with something they can use straight away.

This seminar will focus on the Visual Supports workshop, outlining the content of the workshop and describing how mindmaps, checklists, and hands-on activities are used to convey this in a concise and accessible way.
