This workshop is for people who use AAC and professionals who work with people who use AAC to input into the design of an innovative new communication aid.
Barnsley Assistive Technology Team, Sheffield University and Toby Churchill have been developing V2, a voice input and voice output communication aid designed for people with some intelligible speech. The project will try to understand strategies communication aid users employ to make their communication successful and also the specific communication needs of people with some limited intelligibility. This information will influence the design and functionality of V2.
The purpose of this workshop is to consider the prototype device and gain feedback on its features and how it works. We will present some of the information we have found so far and involve the audience in considering the trade-offs of the device design.
