In eye-gaze systems, the user looks at the required item on the screen and then selects that item by either pressing a switch or holding their gaze for a preset length of time.
These systems are relatively expensive, costing from £7,000 to £12,000. Several systems are commercially available; all have different characteristics and vary in their tolerance of head movement. An assessment and a trial with a system are imperative before considering any purchase.
