AAC Awareness Month - Wave 'Hello' photographs

During International AAC Awareness Month in October, many people used Communication Matters' big yellow hands to raise awareness of AAC in their local community and beyond, and sent us wonderful photos of the hands in action. We've put the photos into online photo albums for everyone to enjoy.

Research Lead & Research ManagerThe Communication Matters Research Involvement Network aims to support and encourage research into AAC in the UK by building a list of people who are interested in taking part in research. We launched the Research Involvement Network at the Communication Matters conference in September and we are currently recruiting members. Celebrity Interview Competition - The Winners

celebrity interview winnersAs part of the National Year of Communication 'Hello' campaign, Communication Matters organised a competition for people who use AAC to interview celebrities by entering 10 questions they would pose to a famous person with the prize of doing the interview for real.

Job Vacancy: Wolfson Neurodisability Service

NHS jobs page will shortly show a Band 7 Highly Specialist full-time permanent post in the Neurodisability Service at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Applicants should have experience and interest in working with children with a wide range of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism and cerebral palsy, and with approaches which include the selection and evaluation of augmentative communication systems. Postgraduate studies (for example, Masters qualification) important, as is teaching/training experience.

Many Hands Wave 'Hello' in October

Waving handsAs part of the International AAC Awareness Month in October, delegates at the CM2011 National Conference were given giant yellow hands and asked to send us photos of the hands being used creatively for communication, or in an unusual place, or doing an unusual thing.
