AAC Dissemination Seminars

Communication Matters, along with organisations involved in the delivery of the AAC Grants Programme, will be hosting four AAC Dissemination Seminars across England in April 2013, which have been arranged to raise awareness on the subject of Augmentative and Alternative Communications (AAC) services.

The seminars will aim to disseminate information from two key pieces of work:

  • The first is a nationally coordinated project that has been funded by the Department for Education to develop resources to inform on AAC commissioning arrangements from April 2013, and which is hoped to result in a significant improvement in provision for children and adults who need access to AAC services.
  • The second is a three-year long Big Lottery funded project, entitled ‘Communication Matters – Research Matters: An AAC Evidence Base’ and led by Communication Matters, the UK charity for people of all ages and ability who use AAC, in partnership with the University of Sheffield, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester Metropolitan University.
