Toys2Talk is a pilot project set up to support children with complex physical and communication disabilities as early as possible, by providing essential tools aimed to facilitate communication and play.
It is increasingly acknowledged that many of the essential skills acquired by young children are developed around the process of play, highlighting the importance of support and facilitation in this key area.
We will discuss significant issues which have emerged from this project:
- how working with children at this early stage affects professional practice
- outcomes of loaning ‘toy boxes’ of equipment individually collated for each child
- thoughts of how this project will inform ideas for the future.
