Summary

Speech & Language Therapists are in short supply, so imaginative solutions and alternative ways to deliver services need to be considered. This presentation introduces the 3 year Leonard Cheshire Disability Communication Project which is in part funded by a grant from the Big Lottery fund.

Communication Support Officers work with Speech and Language Therapists to support residents in the Leonard Cheshire homes with their communication needs. The outworking of this project at a local level will be discussed with the example of a case presentation.

The project is currently being evaluated by a team from University College London.
