Summary

One effect of the demographic shift towards an ageing population is a growing number of people with dementia. Because of their impaired working (short-term) memory, people with dementia are a particularly challenging user group to involve in the process of  developing technology that might benefit them.

In the course of our exploration of new ideas in assistive technology for this group, we have developed a number of approaches to involving people with dementia as research partners.

This presentation will describe this work, with illustrations from a recent project developing multi-media touchscreen communication support for people with dementia.
