Summary

This 3 year Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Grant funded project has been working with 4 Children’s Trust Pathfinders to support them in developing their AAC delivery services. The four Children’s Trusts have developed from different starting points and with different priorities and constraints.

It is hoped that the models established during the project will be adapted and adopted by other Trusts. The ACE Centres through their work with the Trusts have supported the development of AAC policies and strategies, the development of interagency working and multi-disciplinary assessment, child and family involvement and consideration of funding issues.

Despite the many hurdles and issues that have needed addressing, all four Trusts are well on their way to developing sustainable working procedures which could be used as models for other Trusts across the country.
