Summary

An opportunity for those working with clients with progressive neurological diseases to discuss difficulties with this client group with each other and the panel, and to put forward possible solutions.

The facilitators work in a specialist communication aid assessment centre. They will present some short case histories on Multiple Sclerosis, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, and Huntingtons Disease to illustrate the difficulties of working with this client group and to get the discussion going.

Participants will then be invited to share cases that they have had difficulty finding solutions for, and ideas about what is good practice for this client group. Discussion points may involve: access; sensory impairments; cognition; literacy or other linguistic difficulties; environment and support; technical issues with equipment; funding of equipment; any other issues that people experience when working with this client group.
