Widgit Symbols are used globally to support people and help them realise their full potential, no matter what their age, ability, or background. 

The ever expanding Widgit Symbol Set has been developed over the past 35 years and now contains more than 18,000 symbols, which cover an English vocabulary of over 45,000 words. 

Health and education professionals around the world use Widgit Software and symbols with learners of all ages and abilities to support language development, communication, literacy, and learning. 

Using a range of symbol resources and strategies can give people more freedom. By making small changes to encourage independence, a large impact can be made on people’s self-esteem and confidence. 

Where people’s physical abilities are restricted, or they cannot speak, symbols can be used to help them to communicate their needs and wants, enabling them to make choices. Symbols empower them to be able to share their thoughts and ideas in ways that others can more easily understand.

  • Widgit Online allows you to create, save and share visual communication and learning supports in your web browser. You can create both print and interactive materials from a range of easy-to-use templates or from scratch using our intuitive document writer.  
  • SymWriter 2 supports writers of any ability and allows them to begin writing independently by providing key words, phrases, and sentence structure. There is the option to include switch access making writing accessible to those who have difficulty using a keyboard.
  • ProxTalker Widgit were delighted to partner with LoganTech.com in 2016 and are now the sole UK reseller for ProxTalker (the most advanced and adaptable recorded speech communication device available).  Using Widgit Symbols with ProxTalker aids communication and independence and gives the user a voice.
