Summary

To start a debate about how AAC users are portrayed in the media and popular culture.

Method/Activities/Techniques

A review of literature about representation of disability generally. Gather opinions on selected examples from AAC users and repeat this exercise as an interactive event with the audience on the day, to get them thinking.

Results/Findings

Hopefully get a concensus from AAC users on how they would like to be portrayed and how they feel about how they are currently portrayed.

Conclusions

Develop a statement setting out clearly how AAC and its users should be represented.
