Re: [AAC Forum] Voice recognition software

Hi again Michell,
'COMMERCIAL INTERESTS DECLARED'
Completely by coincidence I was just finishing writing up an article for my
website on my experiences with setting up Dragon to control a laptop. It is
not as straight forward for non mouse or keyboard users as one might think.
Take a look at

Dear Gill

We will of course do what we can to help from ACT but I think this one
may have come via us already. Perhaps the therapist is looking for a
solution that does not involve buying expensive software.

There are software options with Mind Express software at least. That
has Bliss symbol editor.

Hi Michelle,
'COMMERCIAL INTERESTS DECLARED'
I have been supporting a person in a similar situation and we have found
Dragon to be an excellent product for computer control and dictation. We are
currently using Dragon 10 and have been impressed by its ability to
recognise his speech with only a few errors, most of which can be easily

Voice recognition software

58 min 13 sec ago
Hi,
I'm sure this has been much-talked about before...but can anyone recommend the latest/best voice recognition software out there? I've got a client who tried Dragon 2-3 years ago, but found that because his voices changes slightly when he tires (he is otherwise highly intelligible), it was making more errors than helping.

core vocabulary for safeguarding

58 min 13 sec ago
Hi, I am a novice to making requests to this group but wanted to ask for some advice...
It's a 2 part one really:
1) Does anyone already use a particular list of core vocab when ensuring children and young people are learning about safeguarding? I realise there is an age and a developmental element to this. We have standard books and boards with core vocab that we have used in the past but are revewing our practise in special schools and I wanted to pick the many fine brains out there!!

As Annalu says, Blissymbols UK can advise clients on Bliss and Bliss
resources, and as the others suggest, the therapist in question should
email Chair person Gill Hazell in the first place. I am also a member
of Blissymbol UK.
I am really pleased to see this enquiry as it indicates a willingness

Commercial Interest Declared

Hi,

Our JayBee product ( [link] ) is partnered with CereProc
([link] ) based in Edinburgh who produce the voices. They
had a very large coverage of Voice Banking as they developed the voice for
Roger Ebert. Not a household name in the UK, but a huge film personality

Word of Mouth - Voice Banking

58 min 13 sec ago
Hi all,
Some of you may have heard 'Word of Mouth' on Radio 4 today which covered Voice Banking, including an interview with Laurence Brewer who has MND and is voice banking to make a voice for a communication aid. There is tangential reference to AAC via, as normal, Stephen Hawking!

'COMMERCIAL INTERESTS DECLARED' http:[link]

We recommend a high resolution camera such as Microsoft LifeCam when
using Camera Mouse with JayBee, and have good success with it. The
jittering that other cameras produce is because of the low resolution.
The Microsoft camera is only about £50 at PC world, so with the free

RE: [AAC Forum] Help please on identification of headrest

Hi,
Regarding your headrest query, BES rehab ([link]) sells Stealth headrests and the Combo model matches your pictures.
Alternatively (and probably cheaper) Invacare do a similar headrest for their Protech back system ([link]).

Camera Mouse Free

We use Camera Mouse for face tracking with JayBee
( http:[link] ). It works very well as long as the WebCam
used is a high resolution device. The Microsoft LifeCam is a good
choice, and at around £50 from PC world is a good choice!

Hi
I have received a request from a therapist in the Adult Learning Disability team in Birmingham asking whether anyone in the Birmingham area uses Bliss symbols, or if there is a way of producing further Bliss symbols if required.

Hi Gill

Blissymbolics Communication UK is a small dedicated group trying to
support individuals who use Bliss. See [link]

If you email Gillian Hazell (gill...@aac-consultancy.co.uk ), she can
