What is it?

    The Communication Matters National Symposium is the UK’s leading annual AAC event embracing a wide range of presentations relating to Augmentative and Alternative Communication.

    With over 380 delegates every year, the Symposium provides a dynamic forum to meet and exchange information with representatives from all disciplines associated with AAC, including people who use AAC, parents and carers.

    The programme for the CM2008 National Symposium will include a mixture of presentations, including workshops, and video & platform presentations.

    There will be two morning and two afternoon sessions, and you will be able to choose from up to eight presentations running concurrently.

    There will also be an extensive Trade Exhibition featuring most of the UK’s leading suppliers of AAC products, an Internet Café, social events, and more.

When & Where is it?

    CM National Symposium VenueCM2008 will begin with a plenary session and the Communication Matters Annual Meeting at 4pm on Sunday 21 September 2008, and presentations will be held on 22 & 23 September. The Symposium will end at 4.30pm on Tuesday 23 September.

    The Symposium will be at The Gilbert Murray Conference Centre, Leicester University.

    Leicester University is fully wheelchair accessible, and will be able to accommodate more delegates than ever.
     

How much does it cost?

  • CM National SymposiumFull Residential registration fee is £395 (only £345 if you pay before 31 July) and covers ensuite accommodation in student residences (newly opened) for two nights, two breakfasts, two lunches, refreshments and one buffet dinner and the conference dinner.
  • One Night Residential registration fee is £345 (£295 if paying early)  and covers ensuite accommodation in student residences (newly opened) for one night, one breakfast, one lunch, refreshments and the conference dinner.
     
  • Non-Residential registration fee is £295 (£245 if paying early) and covers two lunches and refreshments.

If you use AAC or are a family member of someone who uses AAC, you are invited to apply for a subsidised place at £80.
All meals and accommodation are included, and you may also bring up to two personal assistants (£50 each). If you are not a current member, a membership fee of £10 payable unless you have not been a member before, in which case the first year’s membership is free. There are a limited number of subsidised places available - first come first served.

    Notes: The above prices are for members of Communication Matters. If you are not currently a member and do not qualify for a subsidised place, you must include membership fees of £52 (membership runs from 1 January to 31 December 2008).
