The QCA are developing Diplomas to provide an exciting, stretching and relevant programme of learning for all young people. Learners will develop a range of widely applicable skills and knowledge, set within a ‘specialised’ context - specified group of employment sectors - and will offer a unique blend of general and applied learning.
The Diplomas will also promote diversity, opportunity and inclusion by offering high-quality, credible, industry-relevant learning opportunities.
The next four lines of learning (LoL) are now in development:
The first stage is the development of the LoL Statement. Each LoL Statement articulates the purpose for a Diploma in a sector; specifies the sector needs and requirements; and provides the basis on which Line of Learning Criteria can be developed.
The LoL Criteria is a regulatory tool that awarding bodies use as the basis for qualifications development. This will help ensure Diploma qualifications:
If you work with young people who use AAC, then it is important that you contribute to the consultation to ensure that the criteria take into account any special arrangements to make these qualifications accessible to all.
